All Politics is Local

Sweet Honey in the Rock dedicated Ella’s Song to Civil Rights pioneer and shero Ella Baker. The meditation for today is related the song’s main verse, “We who believe in freedom cannot rest”.  This may seem to run contrary to the ‘I’m resting and minding my business’ mantra of the 92 %, but not really QueenSiS.

Our foremothers showed the way how to work outside of the political structure in local community like life depends on it, and still insist on a better national system, a better global system. In this generation we now know we can also rest and tend to our own business for sure, but we probably don’t have the luxury of choosing one approach over the other. Lucky for us, multi-dimensional existence is a part of our cultural tradition too. #GlocalCitizen
