THINK, Then Speak

I can’t recall where I picked up this pneumonic but I like it: “THINK before you speak: are the words thoughtful, helpful, inspirational, necessary, or kind?” I’m meditating on the amazing power of the spoken word this dayclean.

It can be hard to pass the THINK assessment, and I certainly miss the mark often. But I’m still committed to practicing ‘THINK, then speak’ so that it can become my new habit. In my over-scheduled life, I’ve developed the tendency of responding quickly, especially to get the job done. Now I’m learning it is okay to take time to pause before I speak or respond. To take the time to #THINK.
