Relation Shifts

I had a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend - providing support for my aging mom and celebrating my graduating son.  I’m still meditating on the joy and challenges of my parenting experiences this dayclean.

They call it the ‘sandwich generation’ - those of us serving as parent to an adult child who still needs some support in their transitional years, while being an adult child of a parent who needs additional support in their ‘golden years’. The sandwich situation can be an especially difficult time because memories and the traditional boundaries of who has authority, resources and responsibilities can become blurred and fluid. But I’m giving thanks for the blessing of these Living Years (hat tip to the Seal for his sensational cover!), and praying for the courage to make new beautiful memories. #relationshifts
