Elder Lessons

I’m elementary-school excited this dayclean because I’m going on a field trip! My partner, a few of my university students, and my 80+ year old second parents are with me. I’m meditating on the blessing of being able to learn from the lives of elders and share lessons with the next generation.

The unforgettable Betty Wright sang about “an old lady who wouldn’t waste her time tellin you nothin wrong.” I have had the favor of Elders who took their time to share their stories with me; and the blessing of educational access, and field trips to museums so I can benefit from the stories of other Elders and Ancestors. #ElderLessons
