Listen Up

I’m welcoming this dayclean listening to the smooth sounds of Jill Scott. She’s blessed us with so many gems, but Whenever You’re Around is near the top of my list because it reminds me to really listen.

I have a lot to say, and I’m blessed with roles in life where I get to share a lot of what I have to say (hello captured audiences in classes). But I don’t want to be that person - I don’t want people to feel like they are not heard whenever I’m around. So I’m constantly intentionally practicing the skills of active listening. I don’t think I will be able to teach others without also learning from them, and I don’t think I can learn if I don’t #listen.
