Yield Not

An old baptist hymn is on my mind this dayclean: yield not to temptation. It seems like the temptation to fall back into old routines pops up when I least expect it, or they knock on the door of my mind when I feel most vulnerable, tired, worried or distracted. It’s Jill Scott’s Cross My Mind indeed.

Maybe some of my old routines and habits were comfortable and familiar, but they are ‘old habits’ for a reason. I know in one way or another, they kept me from going to new levels and making the forward progress I wanted in life. And I know I’ve come too far now to turn back to old ways of doing and being. I mean to keep on creating the kind of life I want and deserve. Give thanks for the spirit of discernment, foresight, and mind control during times of temptation. #YieldNot
