Neither A Lender or A Borrower

The incomparable Tracy Chapman’s Cold Feet is on my mind this dayclean QueenSiS. The sad sad story of a good good man who promised more than he could buy, then died. Debt and death are not too distant of cousins as far as I’m concerned.

Debt may not kill directly, but it sure does rob me of future options, limits my flexibility, takes my time away from loved ones, and restrains my creativity.  I’ve learned the hard hard way to use it with extreme caution only, and with an early exit strategy always. Lending has its own dangers too, putting me in the precarious position of having some portion of control over another person’s options. It may just be better to be honest and graceful about not wanting to lend at all, and to simply give if I’m able. Either way my goal is to live #DebtFree!
